CHINGOLA YOUTH CENTRE CELEBRATES INDEPENDENCE DAY

On 24th October, 2019, Don Bosco Youth Center-Chingola (Oratory) organized symposium which was integrated with Zambian independence celebration. Different schools were invited to participate to this event. The main aim of this symposium was to attract the young people around to our place with the aim of helping them to become good Christians and honest citizens. The event began in the morning with educative talks based on the theme of symposium which was stating that: “Strengthening One Zambia One Nation Motto by Promoting Unity in Diversity among Citizens.”

The talks were given by Mr. Chipoka (the provincial Chairperson for NDC party) and the main speaker Fr. John Musonda Sdb (the principle of Don Bosco Secondary School in Mansa). The speakers emphasized that, the celebration aimed at conscientizing the value and importance of unity and peace in the society. This is because One Zambia One Nation motto, aims at harmonizing different ethnic groups into a single functional nation-state whose citizens would identify as Zambians. The speakers also urged the young people to be ambassadors of developing good moral values for all human activities that promote unity and peace in the nation. Consequently, social activities such as politics should not lessen the uplifting the dignity of human being in the society.

Apart from educative talks, there were different kinds of activities and competitions such as singing, poetry, cultural dance and modeling to mention but a few. The programme finished around 17:00hrs with giving of certificates of participation to those who performed well by Fr. Rector.
